Our mission is to increase access to opportunities for youth to thrive in school, careers, and life. We understand that to do this work well equity, diversity, and inclusion must be woven into the very fabric of our organization.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in our Organization and Services
Our mission is best carried out when we reflect the diversity of our students’ cultures, economics, experiences and identities in the membership of our board and staff. Our organization is committed to providing equitable treatment, access, and opportunity.
Shared Voice
We believe in listening to a diversity of voices. We involve youth in decision making because it develops leadership and allows our program to be more responsive to their needs.
Learning and Accountability
As a learning organization, we will continue to provide education and training for our staff and board that challenges our understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion and increases our capacity for self-critique. We acknowledge that we are accountable for addressing unconscious bias and dismantling systems of prejudice that exist within our work, our organization, and ourselves. We will review our progress regularly and take ownership of our mistakes.
Project Youth+ was founded on the belief that all young people deserve the chance to fulfill their dreams; and while dreams are available to all youth equally, opportunities are not. We are committed to recognizing those disparities and working towards equitable access to supports and opportunities for students.
