Empowering the next generation of Southern Oregons Workforce: Project Youth+ secures workforce readiness grants for Healthcare and Technology totaling over $1Million

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Project Youth+ was just Awarded Workforce Readiness Grants in Healthcare and Technology

We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded two Workforce Readiness Grants through Future Ready Oregon, a significant initiative established under Senate Bill 1545 in 2022 totaling over 1 million dollars.

These grants will empower us to enhance training and education programs in the critical sectors of healthcare and technology, ultimately preparing our communities for a more equitable workforce.

These grants will allow us to develop innovative training programs that align with the needs of employers while prioritizing opportunities for Oregon’s historically underserved and underrepresented communities. Our focus will be on supporting adult learners, dislocated workers, and disconnected youth who require pathways into stable, well-paying jobs in high-demand fields.

“We are honored to receive these grants, which will enable us to continue our mission of fostering collaborative partnerships between employers, educational institutions, and community organizations,” said Tobin Mikels, Program Director of Career Build at Project Youth+. “By addressing the barriers to education and employment, we are not only investing in individual futures but also strengthening Oregon’s overall economic competitiveness.”

With these grants, PY+ will implement targeted training programs that provide participants with the skills necessary to thrive in the evolving job market. Our commitment to workforce readiness aligns with Future Ready Oregon’s goals of enhancing access to education and supporting businesses in meeting their staffing needs today and into the future. Grants are collaborations between SORIN, The Rogue Valley Manor and Pacific Healthcare Training.

We invite community members to stay connected with us for updates on these exciting initiatives. For more information on Project Youth + and our workforce readiness programs, please visit Pyplus.org or contact us at 541-476-8146.
